Dr. Richard King

It's so amazing when you think of someone, and then they appear. Dominique DiPrima had Dr. Richard King as a guest on her radio show this morning (her talk show is entitled Front Page - on KJLH Radio, here in Los Angeles, CA - 4:30am - 6:00am - M-F). The remarkable thing is, he was our Professor at SFSU, back in the day (Dominique and I were students in the same class - Blacks in Scientific Development) and we learned so much from Dr. King. He made us memorize a book called Stolen Legacy, written by Dr. George G.M. James., which discusses in full the fact that Greek Philosophy was stolen from Egyptian Philosophy. The entire class was seriously thought provoking. After we memorized the book, he then explained in detail, the relevance of what it was that we were learning. How it relates to us today. Dr. King has written several books - Melanin: A Key to Freedom, and African Origin of Biological Psychiatry. The connection between my thoughts and what has transpired is, recently, Dr. Asa Hilliard III died in Egypt. I learned about Dr. Hilliard through Dr. Richard King. If I hadn't taken the class at SFSU, and Dr. King mentioning the fact that he was on his way to a Melanin Conference in Cairo, Egypt (KEMET), things would not have unwound the way that they have in my life. I called in and talked to him and Dominique briefly this morning, on the radio show, and it made me so happy to know that he is well. I have not seen or heard from him in over 15 years. Listening to him reflect on what kind of man Dr. Asa Hilliard was, made my heart glad. As a direct result of taking the Blacks in Scientific Development course, the following year, my Mother, sister and I studied in Cairo, Egypt with Dr. Asa Hilliard III. We became certified Ancient African Historians.
In a sense, Dr. King, altered my fate - in a good way. He taught us the importance of knowing thy self. That knowledge/ information is very helpful to me on a daily basis, even down to this day.

Catching up with my rest

I have been sleeping soooo much lately. Well, I feel as though I've been rippin' and running all week long, and only got about 5 hours worth of sleep each night. That was not enough! Thursday evening, I was envited to Porche Beverly Hills store, located @ 2Rodeo Dr., BHCA. It was a Tequila Reserva De Don Julio tasting party. It was nice. I met some very interesting people, and got a chance to hang out with a friend, Wendy Krueger(DOC of The LUXE Hotel Rodeo Dr.) So, needless to say, when I walked into the house, leaning to the side and limping from walking up and down the cobblestone paved streets of 2Rodeo Dr. that evening, I just knew that I wasn't going anywhere on Friday. I got home and threw some water up and ran under it(no, not really! I take very long showers because I so love water) and fell backwards into my bed. I must have slept 10 hours! Whew! Then I got up, ate my leftover Salmon w/potatoes in a creme sauce(ala Spago Beverly Hills - Wolf Gang Puck's joint). It was delicious. Then crawled back into bed, and didn't wake up until Oprah.

Until the next time...C
