Dr. Richard King

It's so amazing when you think of someone, and then they appear. Dominique DiPrima had Dr. Richard King as a guest on her radio show this morning (her talk show is entitled Front Page - on KJLH Radio, here in Los Angeles, CA - 4:30am - 6:00am - M-F). The remarkable thing is, he was our Professor at SFSU, back in the day (Dominique and I were students in the same class - Blacks in Scientific Development) and we learned so much from Dr. King. He made us memorize a book called Stolen Legacy, written by Dr. George G.M. James., which discusses in full the fact that Greek Philosophy was stolen from Egyptian Philosophy. The entire class was seriously thought provoking. After we memorized the book, he then explained in detail, the relevance of what it was that we were learning. How it relates to us today. Dr. King has written several books - Melanin: A Key to Freedom, and African Origin of Biological Psychiatry. The connection between my thoughts and what has transpired is, recently, Dr. Asa Hilliard III died in Egypt. I learned about Dr. Hilliard through Dr. Richard King. If I hadn't taken the class at SFSU, and Dr. King mentioning the fact that he was on his way to a Melanin Conference in Cairo, Egypt (KEMET), things would not have unwound the way that they have in my life. I called in and talked to him and Dominique briefly this morning, on the radio show, and it made me so happy to know that he is well. I have not seen or heard from him in over 15 years. Listening to him reflect on what kind of man Dr. Asa Hilliard was, made my heart glad. As a direct result of taking the Blacks in Scientific Development course, the following year, my Mother, sister and I studied in Cairo, Egypt with Dr. Asa Hilliard III. We became certified Ancient African Historians.
In a sense, Dr. King, altered my fate - in a good way. He taught us the importance of knowing thy self. That knowledge/ information is very helpful to me on a daily basis, even down to this day.

Catching up with my rest

I have been sleeping soooo much lately. Well, I feel as though I've been rippin' and running all week long, and only got about 5 hours worth of sleep each night. That was not enough! Thursday evening, I was envited to Porche Beverly Hills store, located @ 2Rodeo Dr., BHCA. It was a Tequila Reserva De Don Julio tasting party. It was nice. I met some very interesting people, and got a chance to hang out with a friend, Wendy Krueger(DOC of The LUXE Hotel Rodeo Dr.) So, needless to say, when I walked into the house, leaning to the side and limping from walking up and down the cobblestone paved streets of 2Rodeo Dr. that evening, I just knew that I wasn't going anywhere on Friday. I got home and threw some water up and ran under it(no, not really! I take very long showers because I so love water) and fell backwards into my bed. I must have slept 10 hours! Whew! Then I got up, ate my leftover Salmon w/potatoes in a creme sauce(ala Spago Beverly Hills - Wolf Gang Puck's joint). It was delicious. Then crawled back into bed, and didn't wake up until Oprah.

Until the next time...C

Get Up and on it!

It's Saturday morning, and I am so glad to wake up and see the beautiful Sun!
I got that up and on it from KJLH Radio, when Stevie Wonder, and the fabulous 6(the team of D.J.s) ask the radio family, every Thursday, during the Stevie Wonder Morning Thunder Thousand Dollar Thursday! session.
What a positive program! So, I love to call my family, and ask, " Are you up and on it!?"

It's time for me to throw some water up, and run under it, and get out the door!

Dr. Asa. Hilliard III

Dominique DiPrima had an excellent show this morning(as usual) on KJLH Radio.com or 102.3 fm. She had Runoko Rashidi, a historian who has written several books regarding Ancient African History throughout the Diaspora. One could describe Rashidi as, and I quote, "...a historian
a writer and traveler engaged in a love affair with Africa."

When I tuned in, they were talking about Dr. Asa G. Hilliard III. Rashidi was discussing the fact that Dr. Hilliard recently died while lecturing in Egypt from complications of Malaria and diabetes. I felt compelled to call in to the radio station, because I knew Dr. Hilliard, and studied Ancient African History in Cairo, Egypt, in 1988. Dr. Ivan Van Sertima and his wife Jackie were apart of the lecture series as well.

While studying in KEMET(Egypt), Asa made sure that we were grounded it knowledge and truth. He made sure that we all knew without a doubt, that KEMET(Egypt) was the land of black people. He made sure that we knew the importance of "knowing thy self". And without a name, you cannot exist.

I got a chance to know Asa, his wife and daughter, and I truly love what they stand for. I love them for caring about their fellow man enough to educate us, the same way that a parent would educate their child.
I am grateful that my Mother, sister and I went to Egypt back in 1988, and was apart of Dr. Hilliard's Holy Royal Family.

Dominque and I took a class at San Francisco State University, where we were introduced to a book called "Stolen Legacy", by George. G. James. Dr. Hilliard wrote the introduction. I agreed with Dominique. That class changed my perception of things, and opened my eyes too. I grew as a result of that class(Dr. Richard King was the Professor, and the class was called Blacks in Scientific Development) - it was deep!

Yes, indeed, I am a life long student, and I keep growing Higher and Higher! You can too!
